IPL Photo Rejuvenation

IPL Photo Rejuvenation

Treating Ageing, Pigmentation, Vascular & Acne Conditions

What is IPL Therapy?

Intense Pulsed Light Therapy is a specialised skin treatment that treats a variety of skin conditions all performed on the one machine. It has proven results that you will feel and see almost immediately. The treatment reverses the effects of age and element damage to reveal younger healthier looking skin.

IPL Photo Rejuvenation, how it works.

Australia is famous for its hot and harsh climate and we live a very outdoors lifestyle, but as many people come to realise this has much to do with prominent facial lines, sun damage and pigmentation seen only too often. Photo rejuvenation has been dubbed the 'non surgery' face lift and is one of the most popular treatments used in the beauty industry today. Photo or skin rejuvenation is the process by which you reverse the effects of age and element damage to reveal healthy younger looking skin and the procedure also encourages new collagen to form. The Fastlux system I use sends out light energy which is attracted to the target/chromophore,melanin for pigmentation and sun damage and haemoglobin for broken capillaries and Rosacea. Once targeted the light energy turns to heat damaging the targeted area and lesions simply become dry and fall off the skin, some are absorbed into the skin or by the body.

Vascular Treatments - average treatment cycle 4-6 treatments spaced 2-3 weeks apart.

Possible side effects.

Mild redness and slight irritation may occur for 24-48 hours, this is normal and subside quickly. Treated lesions and lesions brought to the surface may become more prominent within the next 5-7 days. As the basal skin layer reacts to the thermally injured target area, it can cause a natural exfoliation process and begin and the client may experience some flaking skin, this is common with pigmented lesions and should fall from the skin and light exfoliation after 7 days will help with the appearance of the skin, followed always by sunscreen SPF 30+ or greater. With vascular lesions redness and local swelling can be expected in first 24-48 hours. Use ice and Aloe Vera gel to cool and soothe the area. The tissue in the area may feel hard, this is common and usually subsides 24-48 hours after treatment. You may also experience some micro crusting, this is normal and this happens because the light has picked up the pigment in the area and treated this also, it will come away after 4-7 days and nothing to be concerned about.

Before & After the treatment

You may use cool compress or Aloe Vera on the treated area to cool and soothe. An SPF of 30+ or higher MUST be used on treated area. Discontinue sun tanning or prolonged periods of exposure and the use of self tanning products 4 weeks before and for the duration of the treatment program. Do not exfoliate the skin for a minimum of 1 week after treatment as the skin becomes sensitive to harsh products for that first week, but will return to normal soon after. Do not pick any stabbing or crusting that occurs, let it come away in its own time. Your body will do the work for you and will force it to exfoliate naturally and don't forget your collagen is also now working for you too and will plump the skin out and in the case of fine lines, this takes time and more than one treatment.
